The Andrew James Ice Cube Maker does what it says. It makes ice. It doesn't stay as cold as a previously owned, different make, ice machine (which stopped working!) and the ice cubes don't always fall into the storage basket but it works and makes ice in a quantity that keep the drinks cold and my family happy. If you want ice for a party you will need to make it in advance and keep it in a freezer because it can be slow and needs to be turned off every few hours to 'cool down'. The FREE Ice Crusher is great for cocktails!

If the goal is to have a small amount of ice made for you at regular intervals, then this unit performs quite well. It's not silent, but the noise it makes is not intrusive for being in the same room, and it regularly makes ice that fills the drinks of two people. The ice is made in two sizes.The only problem with this unit is that it doesn't keep the ice it makes cold, which means it melts, reforms into ice, and keeps going around in that fashion. The side effect of this is that when the ice melts, it "joins" each other, meaning that you sometimes get clumps of ice rather than them all being loose.Not bad, not brilliant either, but a pretty good step in the right direction.Edit: Bought my first in June 2011, it broke, got a new one, and by January 2013, that one broke as well. Expect an average of 9 months use out of the product.

This machine is excellent and exceptional value for money. Loads of ice very quickly and efficiently with options on size. However, what I really want to praise is the service I received when the first one delivered to me did not work. I called customer services the same evening, fairly annoyed and not expecting a reply because of the late hour. I did get a reply, profuse apologies, and the faulty machine was collected in the shortest possible time. A new machine was delivered by return with the assurance, which I am sure is true, that it had been tested. That's what I call service.
